One query that keeps bugging me that I have graduated in Automobile Engineering and in the online application form of SSC CGL 2014, I have mentioned B.tech in the education column and "others" in the subjects section as there was no option to select my branch. As this is pretty much equivalent to mechanical engineering, did I make mistake by not opting "Mechanical Engineering" ? Will it create any problem if I pass tier I and tier II and at the time of selection ?
ReplyDeleteDear friend,
DeleteThere are plethora of streams of graduation available in India, it is very difficult, in fact, almost impossible for a recruitment authority to cater all of them.
Also, applicant has to mention exact stream (trade) of graduation in the application. In the absence of exact stream in the options, it is advisable to use "Others". Hence, you have done right thing and no need to worry about it.
If you had selected "Mechanical Engineering", you could be in trouble.
I wish all the very best for your examination.

DeleteHi,
ReplyDeleteI belong to OBC category, but i dont have the caste certificate. If I am able to pass all the exams, and I am unable to provide my caste certificate, then is there any chances to consider me under genaral category?
Dear friend,
DeleteIf you have filled OBC category in the application form, then it will be problematic for you at the time of selection. Board either will consider you as general or its upto them.
It is requested to get a OBC certificate immediately from your regional tehsil.
Thank you Yogesh.
DeleteWhen I called the helpline number to ask the same issue, i got thereply as i should get the certificate before the applying to the job.
But in notification they have mentioned as "Candidates who wish to be considered against vacancies reserved/or seek age-relaxation must submit requisite certificate from the competent authority, in the prescribed format when such certificates are sought by concerned Regional/Sub Regional Offices at the time of Interview/Skill Test/Document Verification after Tier-II Examination. Otherwise, their claim for SC/ST/OBC/ PH/EXs status will not be entertained and their candidature/applications will be considered under General (UR) category.Candidates claiming OBC status may note that certificate on creamy layer status should have been obtained within three years before the closing date for receipt of application. The Commission has decided to accept OBC certificate, in the prescribed format, issued after the closing date for receipt of application but issued on or before the date of completion of last tier of the examination i.e. Interview/Skill Test/Computer Proficiency Test/ Document Verification, as applicable"
As per my understanding, it states that still i have many days to obtain my certificate... Isn;t it true??
Dear friend, I would strongly advise to get your caste certificate asap. Use of this certificate will not only confined to SSC only, in fact, it will be used for other things also.
DeleteAll the best!
